{ HISTORY }
Wish I knew then what I know right now.
Being the youngest in a well off family definitely had it’s perks for Euijin, and by perks, that meant she got literally any and everything she had ever asked for. Her oldest sister was very straight laced, while the middle sister, Choa, was stuck between doing the right thing and trying to rebel, Euijin did whatever she pleased and never got any consequences dealt out to her. As a young girl, she showed her bright she would be throughout her life by expressing her want to try new things at every turn. First came dance lessons, then came the violin and just a little after that, she’d asked to take vocal lessons as well. Now, she knew she would never be able to do anything with these musical talents, except for use them to show off, because despite the fact she always got what she wanted, her parents would not approve of having a daughter in the entertainment field, it just wouldn’t happen. But it didn’t stop there, she also asked for Japanese and Mandarin lessons while she was young, but really only stuck to Japanese because the Mandarin proved to be entirely too hard for her. She would eventually come back to it though, she wanted to prove to herself that she could do it.
At a young age, the summer before she would be going to middle school, an uncle of Eujin’s decided he wanted to go off to Japan to expand his business, and Euijin jumped at the chance to go with him. He had one daughter of his own, and Euijin was intelligent and sly enough to use the excuse that maybe her cousin was lonely all by herself with no one to talk to about teenage problems. And while their parents hesitated deeply, they didn’t really want their baby going to study abroad, especially not knowing when she would be back, they eventually said yes, and signed over temporary guardianship to her uncle. This would be where true freedom reigned, as her uncle was always busy. Convincing her cousin to sneak out with her at night to catch the latest underground rappers doing their thing, and to meet up with dancers after school, it was exhilarating for her, nothing but fun. Of course, she had prior Japanese tutoring, so it wasn’t very hard to make friends, but it wasn’t like she was completely fluent either, so she had her issues in the beginning. And because her grades were so good, she didn’t have to repeat a grade to catch up.
Second year of junior high, she’d met who would be her first boyfriend ever, and the two of them were dancers, he was who introduced her to her crew, and he helped her learn all of their moves. Of course at this age, the two of them knew absolutely nothing about love, but they bonded so well over dance that she was sure he would be with her forever and a day. The both of them snuck out together, danced together, ate together, pretty much breathed each other’s air for as many hours out of the typical twenty-four hour day that they could. He was a year older, so when it was time for him to go to high school, they saw a lot less of each other, but still managed to not break up somehow. Whenever she could, she would meet up with him at the high school once her classes ended, with a snack she had made for him and they would go over new dances, or talk about what was going on with their studies. When she called back home and told her family about the boy, no one seemed truly supportive except Choa. Of course Choa knew the two of them wouldn’t last forever, but she at least made Euijin feel like she thought that way, because that was what her sister needed at the time.
Finally, she’d gotten to the high school where she could see him every day again and that was where things took a very bad turn, not because they got tired of each other, but because he had been the one to get her into light sexual activity, nothing serious, but serious enough at that age. And it wasn’t long after that Euijin got caught sneaking him in the house by her uncle, and had gotten into serious trouble. Such serious trouble, that she was pulled out of school and forced into changing to a new school, and he had to keep track of every friend she was meeting when he allowed her to go out. He told her he wouldn’t tell her parents, and he didn’t, but he didn’t want to be responsible if she ended up pregnant because they decided to take their escapades a step further. This hindered her relationship though, and by the time senior year came around, the two of them broke up and went separate ways, because he was going off to college and she had to worry about getting into one.
Euijin decided she would go back home for college, to Yonsei University, where Choa told her that she was going to school as well. They begin college at the same time, which was probably odd since she was starting early, her sister was starting late, but to her, it was better than anything that they got to start together. She also got into the sorority, Kappa Delta alongside her sister. Now she was an adult, now she could actually make her own decisions, and that was actually the most terrifying thing about it all. How would she cope without someone guiding her? And that was the reason she decided to follow her sister in everything she did. She knew it could be annoying at times, and she enjoyed being her own person as well, but having her sister by her side gave her the confidence she needed to truly transition into an adult.
